In-vitro bioactivity studies of chitin/diopside composites

Silicates are well known for their bioactivity, here we are reporting the bioactivity of diopside (CaMgSi2O6) synthesized by sol-gel combustion process by using citric acid and succinic acid as a mixed fuel. The phase formation of the prepared sample was confirmed by powder X-Ray Diffraction. In-vitro bioactivity of the diopside in conjugation with biopolymer chitin in various proportions were analyzed by immersing the scaffolds in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution. The biopolymer to bioceramic ratio which mimics human bone shows more bioactivity.
